The name "Melt & Mold" is a deliberate departure from the general term "yoga" that is prevalent in today's mind-body fitness industry. That being said, my clients often refer to my classes as "yoga" because it's closer to that than any other form of movement.
As a Western society, we have much to learn from the ancient practice of yoga. However, the decades, the New Age movement has become interwoven into the yoga philosophy. Some of the aspects of yoga or New Age intimidate those who wish to remain true to their Christian faith**. I understand and respect that position, but as an athlete and human-striving-to-live-a-healthy-lifestyle, I can't ignore the tremendous benefits of this mind/body movement and know that so much GOOD that comes from time on the mat. To stay within "my comfort zone," I typically avoid chanting, Sanskrit pose names, and phrasing that references universal spirituality when teaching.
